Rebuilding a 3rd gen engine

I am VERY new to the rotary thing and am looking into getting a 3rd gen RX-7 TT. If i do i am going to want to rebuild the engine and want to do this myself. I have heard from some mechanics that i can't do this b/c when i try to put the engine back together (i.e bolt it together) i will warp it and it wonn't work properly. Can you guys tell me if this is true and if so how a much a new engine with a performance build up (for alot of boost) would cost.

Thanks alot from a newb

Rebuilding an engine isnt just pulling it out and replacing a couple seals. The entire thing is dismantled and a million different seals and o-rings are replaced. Dont worry about the warping thing, there are torque specs and a bolting pattern to prevent that. May people have rebuilt their motors and I havent ever heard of warping as being a problem.
If you get an FD plan on driving it until the motor goes, If you buy one and immediately pull the motor for a rebuild you would have been better off going for a car with a bad motor. Can save a few grand that way.
