Rear end noise......Differential?

My 94 makes a little thump in the rear end when you apply the brakes at a slow speed, 5mph or so. I have heard about the diff mounts going bad My question is how do I check and see if they are actually the problem and if they are, how hard are they to replace?

I have that same problem, it's prob. the same crap as my car. the rear lower control arm bushings are shot. also possibly the toe link bushings and trailing arm bushings, our cars ar infamous for all of them going bad. One quick way to check is to jack up the rear of the car, grap each wheel at the 3 and 9 position(picture a clock), and try to wiggle the wheel. I'll bet there is some movement. If there is the outermost control arm bushing is the culprate.
