Purchase assistance.

Ok, 19 and I fell in love with the RX-7 a few years ago, and am finally in a position where I can get one. I just need newbie info on it from people that actually own them. I've been looking shopping around on Ebay for a few weeks, and almost 90% of the people on there have replaced the engines in their RX7's. (I'm looking into a 3rd generation by the way) Well, I was just wondering if there was a reason for this other than they're just enthusiasts and have nothing better to do. I mean, I have a basic knowledge of how the rotary works and all, but I'm just wondering about that because I just kept noticing. Also, another thing popped in my head recently while I was actually shopping around for them. I know they're really amazing cars and all, but what is the reason that you don't see more people that own them. I live in a pretty wealthy town where there are plenty of people driving high-end cars. There are 2 vipers that I know of around town, a Ferrari F350, a few Corvettes, 2 SL500's. This is in a town of just under 15,000 people. Anyways, I've seen one 3rd gen. RX7 in my life. A guy around town used to have one. It was a younger guy, a little older than me, with a black 3rd gen RX7. He had it for awhile, then I heard that he had gotten rid of it for some reason or another.

So if you guys could maybe just leave some general RX7 owner info. or something like it, it would be greatly appreciated.
