Please Help! I Accidently Crossed Battery

I was proceeding to put the k & n cold air intake on my 86 mazda rx7, i went to take off the negative battery cable and theb wrench slipped and and i hit the wrench while it was on the negative and touched to positive it sparked. Then i left it off and fitted the car with the intake. Then i went to reconnect the battery cable and nothing at all no lights no rotating nothing, then i jumped it and it started right up, but when the jumper cable was disconnected the car still ran then i went to put my lights on and the car turned off. Then i heard a popping under the hood so i looked and it was coming from the headlight relay. The only way to stop it was to take off the battery. I have a replacemnet headlight relay so i am going to replace it then get my battery checked but do you have any info please help. Is it possible i just blew the cvells on the battery?

You should check your fuses to see if anything blew, and definitly replace the battery.
