4K blast and slower acceleration

4K blast and slower acceleration

1987 RX-7 GXL
Accelerates fine until it hits 3700/4000rpms, then makes a slight explosion/popping noise, and acceleration kicks out.
Does anyone know the cause of this??

i.e. redo the secondary fuel injector grounds (or something)

does it rev past that point? My parts car TII did that before i striped and crushed it, turned out the leading coil pack was bad, but i striped the car 4 parts anyway. It would rev smooth up to 4k then start poping flames out the back and would not for the life of it rev any higher. good luck on it!
