Unhappy Please help. Electrical disaster

I have a 94 single turbo with a bit of an electrical rats nest left behind from the previous owner that I haven't attended to yet.. And it has finally come to bite me. I was driving and all of a sudden my headlights were flashing up and down as if the factory alarm was triggered and suddenly stalled. Started back up and didn't occur until 20 mins later. This time it wouldn't start and even with the car off the cluster displayed the hi beams to be on.. Sat there thinking for a bit. Pulled the headlight fuse and the car starts fine and runs without stalling. If I install the fuse while its running, the car quits instantly . I figured it had something to do with the anti theft so I disabled the alarm and still the same issue. Has anyone encountered this or any tips on corresponding circuits that might be causing the stall do to a short, I am all ears.

What ECU are you running? As you said, electrical bodgery by the previous owner sounds like a very likely suspect. I am not too familiar with how the FD's harnesses are 'structured', but it sounds like something is intermittently grounding the headlight relay's coil as the dimmer switch does. One suspect would be the factory alarm as you said. Beyond that, have you looked at the wiring diagram for each item that triggers the headlights? It should provide some clues.

I'm using a Power fc. I haven't had the chance to find any wiring diagrams yet. I forgot to mention that it isn't until full rotation of the multi function where the headlights would pop up does this occur . When I turn on the regular drls/lamps it's fine.

Perhaps the previous owner spliced into the Retractor circuit? Grab a copy of the FD's wiring diagram at Foxed.ca

thanks for the link, I'll check out the diagram and see what circuits are near by that might have shorted with the retractor/headlight circuit and could cause my car to die. I'm still leaning towards anti theft because it was reacting the way the headlights pop up and down as if the alarm was triggered , but who knows with the electrical disaster i have.
