I'm new to this forum and am thinking of getting a 3d gen RX7.

I know there's reliability issues with the 3rd gen, but I really love the styling of the car and would be willing to try my best to learn all that I could from this forum to keep my 7 runnin' in tip top condition.

I don't have much knowledge on cars, therefore, I'd like to seek help from members of this forum to kindly share tips/advices for me before I purchase a used FD.

I just want my car to make my car as trouble-free as possible, make it look nice and hopefully learn more about rotaries as time goes by.

I currently live in Vancouver and have been looking at some of the 7's selling in the states. (Most of the 7's that are selling in Vancouver tend to be high priced..) I have briefly gone though the regulations regarding about importing vehicles from US to Canada.. but since a car purchase is not something to be taken carelessly about, I would like to ask if any members of this forum have imported a car from the states to Canada. If yes, was it really hard to pass through the inspection so that the car meets the expected emission requirements in order to be legally driven in Canada..

Sorry about the long post as I'm really really seriously concerned about the number of possibilities of things that could go wrong when I purchase my 7.. (which also happens to be my first car)..

a bit of advice ... hang out in the Gen III section to get as much info as you can, but make sure you have thick skin and take things with a grain of salt.

yeah there none to nice to noobies asking questions w/o research, im not and like to help the best i can. best thing to say is look for one w/ low miles and keep it stock till you learn about it more can pm me with any questions ill try to help the best i can. when asking a question on the 3rd gen forms search for it first then ask, save ur self some herassmet

I own a '93 base, and it's my second car and so far so good, but I bought it when a lot of the reliability mods had already been done and the engine/turbos were recently rebuilt.

I wouldn't suggest one as your only car, especially if reliability is important. It *can* be done, and a lot of people have fairly reliable 7s, but most of these people did not buy them that way. Reliability tends to be a result of replacing a lot of parts that don't get taken care of.
