Paint for downpipes

Will 600 degree Celsius paint be good enough for painting a downpipe? This is about 1,100 Fahrenheit.

I wouldn't bother, ceramic coating is pretty affordable these days and it gives you the benefit of underhood heat reduction.

It will not hold. It would be better to heat wrap it if you want to do something to do it.

I have read and heard similar to full detail. Ceramic might last for a little while, but I think wrap is ideal for as much heat as our cars put off.

i was referring to the paint sorry.... a ceramic coat done correctly will outlast the part it is applied to. consider the op lives in japan, finding someone to do a ceramic coat may be wildly more difficult than obtaining a roll of heat wrap.

I wanted to paint it before I hear wrapped it so it wouldn’t rust. It was pretty rusty under the old heat wrap. There was also a small crack in a flange weld…

just looked up some prices… they want hundreds of dollars to coat something like a downpipe. I could buy a whole new downpipe for that much.

there are different types of heat wrap made of different materials. we have used the dei titanium wrap for years and have not run into any accelerated corrosion issues. I'm sure weather and metal type has some influence as well.

Well, my downpipe is all welded and wrapped up. Hopefully it won’t rust too much. Just need some ultra copper to seal up the turbo gasket.

Looks a million times better than that old mummy looking wrap, and now the car should be a be
it quieter… I also hope the longer wrapping might help with transmission heat levels. Hopefully it’ll stop puking fluid.
