One spark plug housing?

Im a FC guy, and have never heard of this. My bro picked up a very nice FD a few weeks ago. Im over in the middleeast, so I havent had a chance to inspect the engine. But today my brother tells the rotor housings only have a place for one spark plug?! The trailing plug is there, but the leading plug isnt. He said there isnt even a spot for it. This is very new to me, and I havent heard about this type of setup. I have always beleived more spark is good. Apparently some paper work came with the car talking about this "mod" and how its supposed to help prevent carbon buildup. Anyone with Info on this?

The engine isn't going to run very well like that. I've got a hunch he is just having a hard time seeing both plugs and is getting a little confused over what he is actually looking at. If you were going to run without one of the plugs it would be the trailing, not the leading that you'd do without.

^^yes look carefully, if there is only one it will be a leading. KD Rotary does that mod.

that must be it, he bought the car from a guy who takes it to KD. He said the housing doesnt have a 2nd plug spot though, as if it were never milled in. Ill have to see it when I get home, by the way Hai what car do you have? IM always around lancaster and york. Only know a couple rotary guys from the area that i trust, the rest I dont deal with

There should be something there, i think they mill a plug that fits in there perfectly, search for Anti-detonation revealed. There was a big thread on it.

I drive 94 R2

I never understood why you would take away the thing that made more power, better economy etc, away claim that it will have less carbon? that is retarded.

^^ i talked to my friend Rod that works there, he said it does make more torque (thats why some run no split timing). But i think the main reason is that since the trailing fires really close to the apex seal, eliminating that would have a less chance of cracking the apex during detonation. ER something like that, dont quote me.
