Question an OMP question

I'm getting my FD in gear for spring. One of the last things on my list, is finding a solution for this :
-a little bit before storing my car in fall, the check engine light came on, and the code was a problem with the oil metering pump sensor. The first thing I did is make some research, and I quickly learned that if I have a problem with the OMP, my car should run in limp mode, which it isn't. How is that?

Also, should I simply consider removing the OMP and running premix, since I already have a Power FC and I'm waiting for an excuse to install it?

I need to have realiable input, because doing a search on "OMP" I get hundreds of unrelated results.

Thanks

-Sam
