old greddy turbo timer install...

hi all

didn't think i'd bother with a TurboTimer for my Fd but had the chance to buy an old greddy unit cheaply, (picture at end)

no harness, missing power led and missing set 2 button, no instructions...

anyway, it looks like it can be fixed up pretty easily and it seems to work when i hook it up to my battery charger to provide 12v, ie if i put 12v on the red and the white wire and then cut the power to the white it counts down and shuts off

i've downloaded the pdf manual for the newer greddyTT, LCD, 3 buttons, auto-timer, voltmeter

but this black unit seems older with an extra rocker switch for setting the time and LED counter, instead of LCD, that also shows 1/100s of a sec

problem is the new unit has red, blue and green wires whereas mine has red, white and green...

anyone know where i could find instructions for this older type?

me again

tried to hook it up today and lucked out when i pulled the trim below the ignition off

my timer didn't come with the accessory loom but it looks like the previous own must have had a TT or some other acc that needed the same 3pin plug

i plugged into that and at first things didn't seem to work right, so i used a jewellers screwdriver to release the pins and move them around until thinks seem to work right

as a bonus it looks like i can use the TT as a fan cool down switch as well

i have 1 setting at 2min so if i know the turbo doesn't need to cool down i can simply shut the engine down when i'm in the garage and then switch the ignition back to "on" to see if the fans come on, if they do i pop the bonnet then start the 2minute timer on the TT before pulling the key. that way the TT keeps the fans running for 2minutes before switching the ignition back to off

couldn't work out why the 7 segment display was flashing up strange patterns when powered up, now i have ...it tries to show "trust"

next i'll have to figure out why it flashes up "turbo" and "stop"

have emailed GReddy to see if they have a pdf manual for the older, non auto TT
