Oil Seal Leaking?

Want to buy my first RX7. It is a 1988 with 100,000 miles. The only thing wrong with the car is that the oil seal is leaking. What is this on a rotary motor and how hard is this to fix? Should this be attempted by someone that works on pushrod motors? He says the motor will not restart if you do not let it warm up.

Which oil seal is leaking? If it's the front or rear main oil seal and it has an external leak, then it's not too difficult to do. If it's the internal oil seals, then you will have to disassemble the engine to replace the oil seals.

It must be the internal oil seals. He says that if the motor does not warm-up before you shut it down, it is hard to start. He also said that this is a common problem with these cars. How hard is it to rebuild this motor and where are the oil seals inside the motor?

If the oil control rings are leaking, the engine will produce blue smoke out ot the ehaust. The seals are in the rotors themselves. The hard start can be due to leaking injectors or low compression.

As far as rebuilding, there is a link in my sig line to the online FSMs.
