Question oil leaking out of my intercooler piping??

I just got back taking my car for a few quick runs on the freeway when I started smelling burnt oil, so I poped the hood and looked at my intercooler piping, and I saw some oil leak out of one of the elbows of my rubber intercooler piping. Im not sure how the oil got in there since I dont remeber putting oil in my intake. Plus my BOV makes a funny noise sometimes, inbetween shifts, sounds like funny sucking noise, that has to do with my vacume hoses. Any thoughts, Im very plerplexed.

see the blue rubber clamp on the right of the pitcure, that is where I found the a oily substance leak out of.

It shouldn't be leaking out because that means you are probably losing boost as well, but I believe a very small amount of oil in the path after your turbos is normal. I heard there shouldn't be enough that it actually will drip. If there's a lot, the bearings in your turbo could be shot. Good luck.

hmm... doesn't sound so good.. but I actually just had my turbos replaced like a month ago (I get a boost or fuel cut after 10 psi also), and going to get my EFI dyno tuned next. weds. Guess I'll hold off on the car till then. Thanks for the info, any other insights?

Yeah I just went to mazda today and talked to someone about that, and they told me that it was normal, since sometimes under hard drving the intake sucks oil out of the turbos. So we're safe

Getting info from a Mazda dealer is like asking a priest how to have good sex... Anyway The oil your seeing is in fact coming from the turbos. The oil sent to cool the turbos leaks by the oil seals and gets blown in the intercooler and plenum. The more oil you see the more "blow by" your getting. You can rebuild the turbos but it may not be an end all cure. When they rebuild turbos they put in new oil seals etc. But the tolerance around the oil seals are enlarged due to wear so a new oil seal will only partially solve this problem or temporarily solve it. You cant put back metal were its worn out. This is why rebuilds are only so good and can never be as good as a new set of turbos. You can get away with some blow by but it will continue to get worse until the turbos stop making full boost and then no boost at all. Depending on how hard you push them will determine how much longer they will last. Also when they car sits for a long period of time the oil slowly seeps by the worn oil seals and when you start the car in the morning after its sat all night pooling up oil inside the turbo housing you will get lots of smoke on start up. It usually goes away after a little while once its blown it all into the plenum and burned in the motor. For the money it costs to rebuild you can find a new set floating around for sale for a few hundred extra. Its worth it.
