oil leak at bottom gasket-how bad to fix?

I posted this under other threads as well, so please forgive my repeat!

I'm looking at a 1990 RX7 that has had the engine replaced 10K miles ago. when we look, we can see oil seep around the very bottom of the engine, the hubby thinks it may be an oil pan gasket? its on the front of the engine at the very bottom.

Any thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated! I don't want to buy it then find out we need a new engine!

Thanks!
Suzy

wow.. that a bit vague.. may be you should post a picture of said area... it could be the oil pan gasket... but it could also be the oil meter pump if it's on the front cover near the exhaust manifold and below the air pump

Could be the oil pan gasket, also could be an oil cooler line or front main seal. Sometimes you will see leaky front cover gaskets on recent rebuilds due to improper installation, and that is not a fun job.

The oil cooler lines and oil pan gasket are not a bad job on the FC.
