Oil/Gas balancing

Ok, I have read that when due the oil mixing in the gas you should use mystery oil. On the other hand, I have heard you should use 2 cycle oil because it designed to burn off with the gas. I plan on using the 2 cycle since it will burn off and in theory have less fouled engine and less fouled spark plug. Does this sound right to you?

Also, I did my math and from what I figured out to what I saw in one of the forums the other day, I would need to use 112 fl. oz. per tank of gas. The person said to use a 100:1 ratio.

8oz 2 stroke oil per 1 gal, 100:1 ratio
14 gal tank
14x8=112 fl. oz.

8oz per gallon is not 100:1 ratio. Please don't put that much oil in your fuel. It will smoke like a chimney and foul out the plugs.

1oz per gallon is 128:1 (there are 128oz in a gallon) Thats what a lot of people use for every day driving.
8oz per gallon is 16:1

One other Question.

1. Should I use a 2 stroke oil? I read that it burns the oil off. or;

2. Should I use a regular oil such as mystery oil or a regular high grade motor oil.

I also saw that you should not use synthetic oil???

Use a 2stroke oil that says TCW3 or MMO. More people recommend 2 stroke oil.

As far as synthetic oil, you shouldn't use it if you have the stock oil injection system functioning properly. If you have it removed and you are using premix, you can used it, but I wouldn't. 1qt of synthetic cost as much as 4qts of regular oil, and they both lubricate and cool the engine just the same.

As far as my 100:1 ratio I had posted. I looked at the back of a 2 stroke mix bottle. It said for 40:1 ratio you use 2.5 fl oz per gallon. Off of that I did some math and for 100:1 ratio that would be 8 fl oz per gal hince 8 oz times 14 gallons. But you guys have been doing this longer so I will take you word for it.

I bought my 85 gsl about 2 mounths ago. been working on it every sence to get it running right. I like to do all the reserch i can befor i ask any questions. I also like to be well informed befor i give a answer to something. syntec. dose not burn right, that is why you do not whant it injected into the combustion chamber. Now as far as lub. and cool the same lol not a chance. nothing takes the place of ruteen work and upkeep but syntec. is nothing like standerd oil. it loobs better and runs about 10 to 15 deg. cooler and it cools faster. 90% les breakdown and much more. all im saying is if you are going to tell someone something at lest do the home work first.

Racingtang, your maths is backwards. To go from 40:1 ratio to 100:1 you need to divide the amount of oil by 2.5, because you want a mix 2.5 times leaner (100/40). So 2.5/2.5 = 1oz per gallon

If you are referring to my comment, then read again where I said that the only time you want to use synthetic oil is if you removed the oil injection system. Thus, no synthetic oil will be injected into the combustion chamber. As far as the them lubing and cooling the same, I meant "same" in a generic context. As long as there is some type of engine oil in the engine, then the job is getting done, thats how I meant it. So do my homework first? Who do you think you are? Why don't you learn how to spell first. Words like ruteen, standerd, lub, reserch, loobs, befor, sence, and all the periods randomly thrown into your paragraph tend to discredit your information. Now back off.
