Oil Cooler

I'm fitting an RX7 oil cooler to my Intermeccanica (porsche 356 convertible D replica with 911 power train) and need to know:

-I assume that the big nut goes on the bottom and not the top, right?
-In that position, is the top connection the "In" or "Out"?

Thanks...

Brian

I don't beleive it matters which side you use for the in or out.....Not positive though.

Good luck.

Inter911,

Congratulations on choosing an excellent oil cooler! It does matter which way you plumb it but not which way you mount it. Originally the "big nut" went on the bottom, that's the oulet side. The side opposite the nut (top) is the inlet. The nut/cap is actually for the thermostat that won't work correctly if you plumb it backwards. If you want you can remove the thermostat, but doing so requires you to plug the hole it goes to INSIDE the cooler. They open fairly early (140*F) and I've never had one fail so I'd recommend leaving it in... 16mm AN adapters are available (NOT pipe thread) for -8 & -10, I recommend -10. If you change them, change the sealing washers and be careful not to overtighten the fittings. It's a common problem for the bungs to crack because the fittings were over torqued.
