Noob Q, Turboing NA 13b and Carbing info

well i got an 86 FC shell for free. Im planning on setting up suspension and looks first, so I am going to just get a stock motor from the junk yard. I searched for info for both subjects but couldnt find much useful info. First question is about using all stock t2 turbo parts to turbo the NA motor. How much can the boost can the NA motor handle(lets say teh motor is in very good condition). And how complicated is it to get it work, and what stock t2 parts can i not use. And how much $$$ am i looking to spend.

Second question is about cabuerating the motor. I read a magazine that with a good sized carb and a street port i can hit 13s 1/4 mile. What brand and size carb to use? Is this complicated to do? And also how much $$$.

Any info on both topics would help me very much. Any web sites or threads on detailed how to's. I suck at searching so theres probably plenty of info out there so be kind. thanks!

first of all, welcome!

for carb and turbo issues, you'll probably want to go to the Gen I section, particularly the archives. for your other questions, check the Gen II section. a lot of the queries you have are subjective, so mine or anyone else's opinions don't matter in the bottomline.

anyway, a few general answers to your questions:

boost levels are going to depend on your setup - turbo, fuel, ignition, intercooling, exhaust, etc. - and how well the car gets tuned.

as far as aftermarket carbies go, i have become a firm believer in Weber IDAs, but i have used side-draughts in the past. since you say you want turbo, then this is the route i'd suggest. Holley is another viable possibility, too. again, it will all come down to how well it's tuned.
