Power brakes and radical timing rarely make good bedmates. Signature says you are also in the UK. PM me and I may be able to help.

You probably already fixed the problem, but I'm bored, so here's my 2 cents worth:

If your braking power isn't at 100%, then check your vacuum at idle (is there such a thing on 1/2 bridge?). If you can pull at least -10psi of vacuum at idle, then you've got a bad brake booster. If not (vacuum well below -10psi), then.... I dunno. Never dealt with bridge ports. I know that if the check valve INSIDE the brake booster is bad, it'll leak and not work when there's no vacuum. Hook a vacuum pump the the brake-booster line and see if it holds vacuum. If not, it's bad; if so, then I'm out of ideas, LOL.

There are vacuum pumps (electrical and engine-driven) that they use for diesel trucks (big trucks mind you) that may offer some assistance (bad puhn). Explore your options. The stock air-pump can produce around -12psi of vacuum near 4000rpm..... You probably don't want that hooked-up though.
