newbie with first newb problem

on my 86' non turbo 5spd

a first problem (great here they come) lol

I got in the car put the key in turned the power on all the lights came on etc I turned the key and it went click all the power went away and nothing..

I waited a minuted did the same process over this time it started and ran fine... does this car have a main relay like hondas or maybe a bad battery etc?

what do u guys think is this a "rx7" issue

Dave, I'd try posting this question in the 2nd gen forum. If it is an "rx7" issue", it'll be 2nd gen related and not a general rotary tech issue. Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but trying to help you find it!

Clean the battery cables and make sure they're tight. Make sure there isn't an open circuit in either of those main cables. Common problem with loose or corroded cables or in one that is damn near broken all the way through.

I get this problem quite often you have to use a brush on the contacts to the flux capacito.... I mean battery cables and then tighten them down to contain the 1.21 jiga watts of electricity. I got 5 dinar that says your positive battery terminal is loose.

I'll jump on the bad battery cable bandwagon too. Could be pos or neg though, either one. Clean the connections at both the battery and the starter and you should be good...

the neg cable was almost off (put on shity) so I fixed it and the problem is not cured but it dont die really anymore but dont always jump to 3k when low sometimes it just starts and runs (idles) at 550-700rpm
