New to thread and desperatly seeking help!!!=O

Hi, Im new to the forums. This summer im looking to finally get my 3rd Gen Rx-7. Ive saved up for awhile and I have enough to start building it. Though I have a great passion for the RX-7 I know little about the rotary motor, but basics I do know. My plan is to find a project RX-7 and start from scratch. I need to find a good body with no motor or a bllown motor. I want to keep it old school, so Im sticking to why the RX-7 is the RX-7 and thats because of the Rotary Motor. Im looking to get the 13b tiwn turbo motor but I hear there are many problems that im going to have to deal with, like the never ending belt switches. Are their precautions you can take so that you can better rely on the motor. I hear you can't beat on it as much because of the rotary. I was also thinkin of getting the motors in the 2000 Rx-7's from japan. Are they maybe a little more reliable. All my friends tell me to get a sr-20 in it or a 2jz but i wanna stick it old school. Is there maybe a shop in NJ or somewhere near that knows about the rotary more then other performace shops? Please any help will greatly be appreciated. Thank you

Man, you can't beat on it as much? What other street motor can you put the hurt on as much as a rotary?. They stopped making RX-7s in Japan as of '99. There are dozens of things that you can do to make an turbo or non-turbo RX-7 a reliable daily driver. Just search the forums for "reliability mods" and I'm sure you'll find something.

When people say they're unreliable, they probably had one at one point and didn't change the engine oil for 4,000 miles which is totally the cars fault.

Rotaries love being revved high, within their limits. They last way longer than piston motors in race applications.
