I just bought a 1990 rx-7 gxl. It has headers and K&N intake. And its dam loud. I was wondering what can I do to get more low end power. I know a fair amount about pistion engines but nothing about rotary's. They are so cool. What can I do to get more horse power latter on?

welcome

before you do anything or get any other parts, you may want to do some research on your car. start in the Gen II section.

generally speaking, rotaries are pretty soft below 3500-4000 RPM, so take that into consideration.

anyway, after you learn a little more, you may want to just complete your exhaust system before doing anything else.

heeheehee...buy a v8.

there's a lot of reasons why, but let's say generally, rotaries don't make power down low.

what you would probably benefit from is a better ignition system. i got a crane hi6 and it made a noticable difference in the low end.. $140 and a 15 minute install.

advancing the timing works good too, but is dangerous in the top end. i don't know if the cost could be justified, but soem type of stand alone, or programmable ignition timing unit would probably be a great way to go about that more safely.

that's got nothing to do with low end unless they are stuck open.
