New to Rotary (Smoke and Porting questions/concerns)

Hey everyone, I just picked up my first rotary recently, and I had a few questions and concerns I was hoping to get help with. The main thing I'm wondering about is the smoke coming out of the exhaust. I know it can be normal for these cars to smoke a bit on cold starts which is fine, but i've noticed my fd throwing out smoke after I let off the accelerator and I was wondering if that's fine for these cars and if not what could be the problem. Also the previous owner mentioned it has a "street bridge port". I've heard of street ports and bridge ports but I haven't heard of a "street bridge port". On cold starts and after I let off the gas I can hear the classic barp barp sound you hear from ported engines but then it settle back into a more stock-ish idle. So I was wondering if you guys could give it a look and listen and tell me what you think. I attached clips of a cold start, idle, and light acceleration (I've also had the car smoke more then what it did in the clip before when I was driving it around). Thanks for the help!

It sounds like a half bridgeport with the idle turned down to about 1000rpms.

The smoke is worn oil control ring o rings are worn and will eventually need a engine rebuild

welcome to the board.

congratulations on getting your first Rx-7.

i think the best we can do is give suggestions here because there are a few scenarios that could be at play.

the smoking issue could be worn oil control rings (like what WJM Rotaries said), or they could have simply been installed wrong. yet another scenario could be that whomever ported it was not experienced enough to know not to take material from the part of the port where the oil rings seal against.

the changing idle sound is definitely porting, but again, there are a few different scenarios.

the one thing i will say for sure is watch your oil consumption.
