Need Cat Converter advice

car: 87 TII, Rtek7 v1.8 (720cc x 4), other performance enhancements, and a running smog pump.

I was considering installing this cat (as the only cat) in the location under the seat. Mainly to reduce the burning eyes and smelly cloth:

I also like this cat do to the O2 sensor port that I can use for the wideband sensor.

Some questions:
Any experience out there w/this type of cat (i.e., not necessarily this model)?
What effect on spooling and performance might I expect?
No problems expected from the wideband sensor in that location? (sensor will be between turbo and cat)

Any suggestions appreciated.

its not legal in california!

my experience running this one: http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...niversal=95509

was that it basically made no noticeable difference in performance vs the RB 3" presilencer it replaced. oddly even though its the biggest cat they sell its actually smaller than the stock FC cat!

the second one was the california legal cat for the FC, but somehow in 3" piping (i don't see it on the list?) and it sucked, all the spool went out the window, power didn't change much, but i sold the car cause it sucked all the fun out.

thx for the input.

not concerned w/ legality. have stock system when needed.
only want something to cut down on the HC's w/negligable impact on performance.

The 95509 you mention seems to have the largests cross section of what's available. Interestings the length of the core didn't have much impact on performance as you mention.

Question: When you ran this cat, did you supply the air to it that normaly supplies the OEM cat or did you keep the port on the manifold blocked?

i was running it on a 20B with no air pump or split air at all.

i think the metallic cat should work really well actually, they should flow more, and more might be enough...
