N0obie Question

Hey there guys! Well i own a 00 Impreza 2.5RS right now and really can't do much to it. I've been thinking about selling my car and try to get a Rx7 (FD). I've heard a lot of good comments but one of the downs i have seen was that you would need to replace the engine every 85,000 miles? Is this true? The reason why i want this car is beacause i want to up a level. My 2.5RS only ran high12s-mid13s. Also another question is if your engine stop functioning at 85,000 miles or higher would you need to swap it and put in another 13BTT engine or is there another way of keeping your engine instead of getting another engine? How do you prevent this from happening? Well i would appreciate any help. Hopefully ill be looking forward in building my 10sec. project pretty soon. Thanks!

i'll spare the "what kills rotaries" speech and let you search that. the average life is 85-100k. if not the motor then the turbos will generally start leaking oil. there are exceptions though. you must also remember that people didn't buy these cars to putt around in and many have seen some modification. the ones that didn't weren't treated right by the owners. my suggestion to you is read, a lot, and hang out in the 3rd gen section perusing posts. knowlege is the key and in the end will give you and idea as the trouble spots, model to start with, and what modifications and money involved to reach your goals.

Welcome RotaryRush,
You said that you were lookin for a step up and you wanted to get a 10 second car. 10 seconds, thats hard to do. Possible but will cost you a pretty penny. For the basics of a rotary check out this site.

if you actually ran high 12's you have one of the fastest 2.5's ever
they make a turbo kit for them now....
dont know if you care,
runnign 10's in an rx7 is a single turbo which is in the neighborhood of 10 grand when all said and done
