Not sure were the engine and trans mounts are on the 3rd gen but it's probably doable. Might require a custom drive shaft combining the N/A end with the 3rd gen end for the diff. Can I ask why you are interested in this? I've though about it before. Get a theft recovered or water damaged 3rd gen and install a PP13B and have fun at the weekend autocross in EMod or SM2. Maybe even a FPrepared if its allowed.

you could just use the 3rd-gen engine in N/A format. The compression ratio is 9.0, which is only .2-.4 lower than early 13B's. Aircraft types use 13B-RE's and REW's as well as 20B's in stock form with no turbos with good results. (Plus you could even keep the stock ECU and everything - just rip off the turbos, stuff an air filter on the throttle body, and make a header )

If you really wanted to get sick then put the 9.7:1 rotors from a '89-91 N/A in there. (You should be able to use the stock counterweights - rotors weigh the same) And while you're in there bridge port the sucker Remember it's just a 4-port 13B, nothing special about it that means it can't be run N/A... but once you do porting it's probably a good idea to go standalone since you're dramatically changing the VE of the engine and the computer will calculate the airflow incorrectly. I don't know if anyone makes a carb manifold to fit the -REW block, or if you can put an earlier front cover on so you can use a distributor...

Oh, but yeah, the airplane types are getting an easy ~225hp from a stock turbo engine stripped of its turbos.

Be a good idea to keep the turbo spec tranny, too, partially because putting anything else in an FD would be a pain due to the PPF, but mostly because there's a lot of people who've found that the non-turbo tranny is very easy to break. I want to put one behind my N/A 12A...

I read about a guy in Japan doing this in Options magazine. He just pulled off all of the turbo related stuff(manifold, turbo, TID, intercooler, etc) off of his 3rd gen engine. He supplemented it w/ lots of nitrous oxide.
