mysterious vibration in 85se
I have this vibration that appears whenever I reach 40mph and continues up to about 60mph. It's not affected by the gear I'm in or the rpm's I'm turning. It's not affected by weather I'm turning. In September I replaced the driveshaft, clutch and front rotors/wheel bearings. The vibration started about 3 months later. Before I take it in to someone are there any sugestions on what I might try first?

Speed induced vibration would make front rotors or wheel bearings suspect to me. new or turned rotors? Pull wheels recheck and retighten wheel bearing to spec. you can also warp a rotor by putting lug nuts on with an impact. if those are not it then i would look at driveshaft especially if it was replaced.

When I replaced the driveshaft I had to get one made. What I got was one that requires greasing the U joints every other oil change. Has anyone used this type before? I'm thinking maybe I need to find a OEM draveshaft. The vibration is similar to the one I felt when the shaft went bad but now it fades at higher speed.

I'd get under the car and check the driveshaft for excessive play. If it is the driveshaft and it causes vibration now but didn't for 3 months, it would have to be imbalance due to newly acquired play. The other mentioned items are still possibilities.
