Question Looking for Engine Info

I have done a search and couldn't find quite what I was looking for.

I am looking for a rotary engine and I am not quite sure which car to look for it in. I am actually looking for a mostly complete car, but ultimately I only need the engine.

I am not looking for power. It needs to be fuel injected, and the lighter the better. Reliability is also a concern, but not as critical as the EFI. Turbo is not necessary, but I would consider it if I found one

Any suggestion for the best motor / car to look into would be appreciated. Specifically what year (I assume the car will be an RX-7). Anything else I should be aware of if looking for a specific type of motor would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

welcome ...

any Gen II (1986-92) Rx-7 should fit the criteria you seek.

That's what I was looking for, thank you. Just out of curiosity: What is the designation of that engine (E.g. 12a, 13b or 20b)?

Thanks again.

It is 13B. Depending on year of the 2nd generation (FC) cars there are differences in power. I would personally go with 86-88 engine. It has less power but seems a bit more reliable as far as engine internals go.

Cool, thanks for the information.

I'm sure I will eventually have some more questions, and will post them in the corresponding forums when they come up.

I will also post pictures of what this is going to be after it runs and drives.

Thanks again for helping out the Newbie.
