www.rotaryaviation.com has one too. If I am not mistaken, the same guy does both. I have the one from RA and it is excellent.

is it worth getting the removal video you think?
it's 25 bucks and there are many, many writeups on the net..

 

The engine rebuild one is worth it, te removal one is not needed if your real good at labeling and marking things. My advise to a novis rotary rebuilder, buy a box of baggies and a sharpie, throw bolts into the bags and mark the bags ie: bell housing, UIM, etc. Life is a piece of cake when reinstalling.

 

that's my plan, mark things as well as I can since it's going to be quite some time between removing and reinstalling... if I rebuild it myself

 

I just got my engine removal video from Rotary Aviation. My engine has a lot of emissions removed so I didn't find the video to be as important but for $25, you can't go wrong. It will save you a few headaches on other parts of the removal process. I'd say just buy one to get an idea of what to expect. You can just throw it on eBay once you're over with it.

 

While on the topic of rebuilds.. here's my list I wrote of stuff to get.

Stuff you should think about getting for an engine rebuild

1) 50 Ziploc bags for putting nuts/bolts/small parts in
2) Roll of masking tape for making labels for the bags
3) Magic marker to write on the tape with
4) Plastic wrap (or use a freezer size Ziploc) This is to cover up the openings on things like intercooler pipes etc to keep bugs/dust/crap out
5) Rubber bands to help secure plastic wrap over openings of parts
6) 54 mm socket with a heavy duty impact gun or BIG breaker bar to remove the flywheel
7) Something to stop the flywheel from turning while removing the big nut
8) Clutch alignment tool
9) Grease
10) Enough oil to fill the whole car and to use some for lubing up the new parts as you assemble
11) New Oil filter
12) New spark plugs
13) New plug wires (?)
14) Extra jackstand to support the transmission if you leave that in the car with the engine out
15) Plenty of light! You can't have too much
16) Flashlight/shoplight to get into small areas
17) Container of Vaseline for installing engine O rings (or use Hylomar)
18) Tube of Hylomar from Mazdatrix
19) Dial gauge for setting end play of eccentric
20) Large press with rams if you plan on replacing the rotor or stationary gear bearings
21) Tube of Locktite for use on stationary gear bearing screws or other places if you want.
22) Enough coolant to fill the car
23) Distilled water for the car (if you're not ****, you can just use tap water)
24) Tube of gasket maker stuff
25) Anti seize lubricant for the plugs and turbo bolts
