Intake location dilemna

i am currently getting a FMIC in my FC.
my air-filter WAS mounted up the front, but now it has to be moved (obviously)...
i was going to mount in under the headlight, as there are large vent openings in my custom front-nose that would have allowed beautiful flow to a filter there...but...
i fucked up when i ordered my IC, and i can't mount it the way i want, now the IC piping id gonna hafta loop under the headlights where i wanted the airfilter to be....so now i have a little dilemna on where to put my filter.

is it OK to have it mounted *in* the engine bay, even though it will be sucking hot engine bay air? or is that like going 2 steps forward (with the IC) and two steps back (by my filter being moved to a worse position)

Or is it irrelevant that the filter is sucking hotter air than it was in its previous location up the front b/c the IC will reduce the charge temperature to ambient outside temp anyway?

Or should i really make the effort to mangle yet another hole somewhere up in the front of the car to have the filter poking through it,....

long story short: how far backwards will i be swimming by moving my filter into the engine bay?

xcuse me for being incoherent, i am on my 3rd vodka at the moment.
