Installing alarm

Has anybody ever installed an alarm on there 2nd gen themself?

I just bought a viper alarm system, and they wanted to charge 110$ for installation. Which is just way to much to pay i think. My friend knows how to install the alarms, and he says he can do mine. He did his on an '87 S10, but im thinking that because mines an import it will be a lot harder !?!?

Has anybody done this themselves? run into any problems? Would you recommend that i take it in and get it professionally installed. (If i install it myself , the warranty is completly void!! , but im willing to do it )

Comments/suggestions

thanx.

Installing alarms should be quite straight-forward, import or not. It's just a matter of finding the right wires. A digital volt meter is what you'll need. I wouldn't spend the money to get it done elsewhere.

Yup, you were right.

Got it working in about 2 hours, works like a charm . Just gotta wire it to the hatch , and maybe the hood.

Thanx for the input.
