I'm going to build a motor.

I contacted an old friend of mine to track down a motor and he had alot of parts in his garage. I trust this person and the condition of these parts. he's offering all of these parts in good condition for 150$ all off of an NA s5.

1 set of long engine bolts
oil pump
e-shaft
front stationary gear
rear stationary gear
oil pump sprockets and chain
front balance weight
distributor gear
1 set of dowel pins
front rotor housing
rear rotor housing
front rotor
rear rotor
oil pickup tube
front oil pressure regulator
rear oil pressure regulator

it looks like i'll need front iron, center iron, rear iron, front chain cover, oil pan, and some various nuts, bolts, and washers

does it seem like a good starting point for the price? seems like an excellent deal to me.

will any of the stuff i need be ok to get off of an s4? i know where a few of those are in the junkyards. obviously i'll need the seal kits, but since its apart already i can port it before i rebuild it. plus it'll be fresh. i'm swapping this engine into another non rotary car so its ok if it takes a minute to build. opinions?

S4 irons will have a couple of differences, might as well stick with S5 if you can. N/A irons are usually very cheap.

What are you going to do for intake? Take whats off yours? Is yours S5 or S4?

i don't have an rx7, i have an IS300 which i'm engine swapping. i was planning on s5 irons all along, i meant frontcover/oilpan. as far as intake, this is going to be an NA-T project, so i'm going with whatever is cheap while i collect my turbo parts.

Swapping an IS300? Badass!

Are you going to run premix? If you run premix I would say go with the S5 front and just blockoff the OMP. If you want to use the OMP then run the S4 mechanical setup. Oilpan is the same between S4 and S5 if I recall correctly.

sweet! i'd rather not fool with it. just mix 1.5oz:1 gallon oil/gas premix and drive. (i know thats a bit heavier than most recommend, but upon discussions with another member i've decided to go that route.)

so my parts needed list now includes:

S5 NA irons
S5 NA front cover
S4/5 oilpan
S5 uim
S5 lim
S5 exhaust manifold
throttle body w/ tps
fuel rail
injectors
seal kit

i wonder if i could reuse my stock alternator and steering pump and ac compressor? i can fab the brackets.

you'll need to change pulley's and make sure they line up, but that depends on your fab skills.

That's a lot of oil. I don't know who you talked to in regards to it....but 1oz/g is more then enough. Your only going to reduce your engines power capabilities at 1.5oz/g.
