Hey guys. Recently picked up an rx7. New motor. And apexi PFC. Hear are the issues I would like some advice on. The the car idles high. But the idle fluctuates up and down so I can't adjust the high idle until I fix the fluctuation. I am only boosting to 6psi. And the car seems to be running rich. Can smell unburnt fuel. And it failed emissions with 450 hydrocarbons at 25mph. Limit is 250. The car has about 1800 on the motor. A catless downpipe, Is non sequential turbos and has the Pfc although I believe the Pfc was used and not sure what type of map is on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am going to try and hunt down a vacuum leak. But what the shop told me is the up and down idle needed to be tuned out. Is that correct?

Yep..probably needs the TPS set.
You are on the right track to look for a vacuum leak too just to be sure that all hoses are connected.
Good luck with no Catalytic passing emissions. You sort of need one.
The car would flat out fail visual inspection without it,and the numbers would not be there to allow it to pass if it wasn't there anyways.

It has the main cat just not the downpipe. And it only failed on numbers. Passed everything else but the 25mph hc. Did fine on 15mph hc.

Is tps a tuning thing or mechanical.

Tps would cause idle to bounce up and down?

Thanks

Going to look for a vacuum leak anyways. Although they redid all the vacuum lines (they said) so hard to imagine that's the case.

Yep.the Tps will cause a bounce...sort of like rollercoaster hill ride "sound"
Even though the hoses are new,If you've just got the car it is always good to know what you have so you are familiar with it later on.
Hoses can be different sizes too,so really you can't rule out a hose being a "wee bit" too big and dislodging from it's nipple or part..
If you got a good main cat then that is a good start.Just remember though that it needs to be operational.I had a cat on a car, went to Emissions and Failed.I was stumped until I hit it with a wrench and found it was completely hollow!

Haha. Yes. I have no idea how old my main cat is.
I had that happen to me on a previous car. But it passed obd2 no problems somehow. Only found out there was nothing there when I went to change headers.

Thanks for the input guys. I will hunt around the vacuum lines.
Probably will take the car up to pf supercars for a tune just so I know what type of tune I have.
Hopefully that will fix my boost issue too.
