Identify who rebuilt this 13B
Any idea how I can tell? Where are different builders likely to mark on the motor? It has at least one "Guarantee void if seal is removed" metal tag similiar to what Hayes uses on their motors. This one is on the front iron on the very top, BARELY overlapping the front rotor housing.
Thanks in advance!

Question about
I have a similar question about a lable on a motor of mine. The engine is supposed to be a 2001 JSPEC engine, and this seal seems like it may be evidence to the contrary. I am aware that it could originally be a JSPEC engine, that was in the states for a while, and eventually rebuilt by an american builder, but with the ammount of miles said to be on the engine, that is almost impossible.
So the question remains... does anybody have any information about such a mark on a shortblock? It's located right above the spark plug inlets.
Here is a picture of the motor it came from:
Thank you in advance for any ideas you have about this mark and or engine.

Actuually-- It looks like an engine that has rebuilt by Advance Auto Parts... However.... There is a supplier to Advance and I do not know who that is.
The "void if removed sticker" is actually a little temperature guage... If the engine gets too hot from say lack of coolant...it will change the color of the "sticker"... As a notice to the company that the engine has been over heated...
I guess in reality...There is no way of knowing "who" built the engine...However I will say that it HAS been rebuilt.

Hmmm
I spoke again with another party that was in the shop last night, and he makes some good points.
Firstly, the position of where it was welded on seems to be significant. " It's right on the rear iron->rear housing border, so if you tried to take the motor apart you'd have to take it off."
Also, it really looked like it was JBwelded on, and not fitted with a glue or adhesive. This seems pretty pointless though, because anybody who would take the engine apart could just weld it back on...
I will post some more high res photos tonight that may provide some more information.
Keep the ideas coming if possible!
