Question I want to GUNK my motor....what do i need to cover?

I'm a self-proclaimed moron, so I need to know what to cover before spraying my motor with this stuff. Thanks people. BTW, I have a K&N cone air filter.

Anything plastic, electrical, etc. can be damaged by this stuff. If it's not metal, you'd better cover it. Also, if you have anything that could potentially suck the stuff in, cover that too. I'd recommend just having the engine bay steam cleaned by a pro, preferably someone that's done it on an RX-7 before too. The harsh chemicals used in the engine cleaners found at auto parts stores can be pretty damaging unless you do everything right.

Is it really that bad that you need to Gunk it? I always used brake/parts cleaner in the spray can, it has a spray straw to get in the hard to get areas, and the good thing is that the solvent evaporates and doesn't leave things wet or any residue or film that needs to be cleaned afterwards. just put a piece of cardboard under the car (take off the under cover) to catch the crap. And another thing, it won't eat paint on contact (not that I'd leave it on the paint), and cleans that rotary like nobody's business!
