I need help getting my engine started
I have a 86 RX7 that had engine problems.... I purchased a Japan engine 12A after installing it into the car, it won't start. I think it is a timing problem but unfortunately I am not that familiar with rotary engines. The engine turns over but never fires. Tried troubleshooting from the standard madza manual but still can't get it to fire. I live near Sacramento. My preference would be to find a mechanic that would be able to come to my shop and to see if can be fixed. Willing to pay reasonalbe cost for diagnostic. Any help would be appreciated.

hey, did u try pull/push starting it? a lot of people say that when buying a rebuilt motor, itll never start on its own due to the rebuilding lubes n materials used. also rebuilt engines have low compression. this happened to me when i rebuilt my motor. it started but never ran right. the guys on this forum said to run the rebuilt motor for at least a hour at about 2k rpm to help break in the seals. i kept mine running for a bout an hour. it definitely help. my car starts up without a strain after i let it run for a while. give it a shot. make sure everythings not flooded out before you try it though. good luck

A 12A in an 87?? How exactly did you do that? I don't know of any shops over there though. You might want to try serching this forum for "shops" or something similar.
As for trouble shooting it, make sure there is fuel, spark, and everything is hooked up right.
