how long will this motor last?
What if the OMP on a rebuilt twin rotary with 5000 miles on it decided to fail...? how long do you think the seals will last without lubing? considering that the car is driven conservatively and it has atkins 3mm seals and doesn't get boosted over 10 lbs.... just curious...
it wont last long, but why do you ask? the car needs oil in the combustion chamber. ive heard rumors of n/a FC's lasting quite a while without the OMP, but if its broken you should be premixing or fixing it. under no circumstances should you be going around boosting a car with no OMP if you're aware of the problem. thats just dumb.
knowledge, indeed, is power. so i agree that knowing that it's busted and driving around with it is not smart - vonage be damned - especially turbocharged.
however, they last a lot longer than people think. before i knew about how important the OMP was and that premix was an option, i drove around for a quite a while with a non-functioning OMP. nothing ever happened.
