I installed a new carburetor on my 82 RX7 GSL from Racingbeat. The car starts as it should but the idle is super high (2500 RPMs). The car will not idle down with the adjustment screw. The Tech at Racingbeat keep tell me that I have a vacuum leak. I check for the leak the way I was told to do it and I have not discovered a leak yet. The Tech keep saying there's a leak. I also forgot to mention that this is the 2nd carburetor that I tried from them in a month. Both carburators has give me thet same problem. When I
​put the old 1 back on that I got from them many years ago, I do not have the high Idle problem. What else should I be looking for?

What kind of carburetors are we talking about here? Your description certainly sounds like a vacuum leak, but if you're saying you've been swapping carbs around on the same manifold (and nothing else), then I agree it may be something else.

okay. Is it a directly replacement or did you try something different? Have you checked to see if the throttle is getting hung up on something?

It was a direct replacement.

 

And when you were trying to adjust the new ones, you were trying both adjustments, correct? Also, did you check to see that the secondaries don't move immediately when the primaries move (essentially creating a situation where when you do the adjustment for idle speed, all four throttles are opening)?

there's a metal cover bolted to the rear housing on the intake side that covers over the bell housing of the trans. make sure it's not interfering with the intake mounting to the side of the block. this will cause a massive vac leak. u will need to notch out for the intake to clear or remove it all together as i did on my '74 13b.

also, make sure the adjusting nuts on the throttle cable aren't too tight. there should be some slack in the cable at the throttle.
