HI , i need advice on fd3s

Hi guys , name`s David , im plannng on buying a JDM FD really soon ,
im mostly a BMW and honda guy and i know my way around a car / engine etc ,
I am very new to the rotary scene and i would apreciate any pointers i can get on what to look for when purchasing an FD

today i have seen 5 different FD`s all with different level of mods to them but i found a semi-stock one ( spring / apexi filters only )

it does not smoke on start , unlike most of the other ones , and i started it fresh off the container ( outside temp ~ 2 degrees celsius )
~ 130xxx km`s ( is that high for an FD?)
runs smooth , very quick spool on the turbo , suspension / steering very strong ,
minor oil pan gasket leak ( gettign fixed ) and there is a sensor ( oil pressure ????) above the 2 front spark plugs which is leaking a bit ( getting swapped form another engine )

once on the lift and left on , ( also noticed when a car is on the floor ) , there seems to be some repetitive particular noise ( sort of a weak waek , cant describe it , thomping ... knocking cylinder noise from piston engines ) , was present on all 4 other fd`s , ... tat was coming for more the tranny area than the engine ,

btw what is the air pump good for ? emission ?
can i use full sysnthetic 5w-40 mobil 1 for gasolines engines in it ?

any .. i mean any tips / comments are much apreciated

thx ... and .. hope you enjoyed the read

In the 3rd gen section i think there is a post that walks you through all of the stuff to look/lookout for when buying an FD
