Help???? TurboII Conversion Question

Hi, i have well what was once a GXL 1990, that now has a new Turbo engine in it. I got it running yesterday. My check engine light is on, the code says it's the presure sensor, i swapped it with another one. same thing. The back fires really bad when i excelerate and then when i go to shift gears, it will back fire. The engine will not idle below 1500 unless i force the rpm down with my clutch, and then most of the time it will stay at around 1000 but run ruff. The engine is rebuilt with now around 50,000 miles on it, and it has a mild street port done to it. Please help me out if anyone can. I like driving the car, but the back firing is really anoying. Thanks

Jim

The engine only has 50 miles on it. Not 50,000.

High idle usually indicates a vacuum leak.

yep its often the case,

after a rebuild, my friends engine had a bad leak at the intake manifold to block gasket.

he tore apart the vacumn system about 4 times before he got lucky, pulled off the lim for some reason, and then used sealer on it because i told him to use sealer on everything. problem solved.
