Heather / A/C Modifications

Okay, here's a question about the A/C unit, because I know little about this area of mechanics. Can the heating components be removed for weight reduction, while the actual A/C still retaining functionality? In Miami, I have absolutely no need for an heater... but an A/C unit is a requirement. I also want to drop a few pounds from the car wherever I can.

All there is to the heater is the core. It weighs about as much as your radio. Not worth the effort to take it out.
