heat sink compound

i am doing a DLCDFI system and it says to use heat sink compound on the back of the ignitors, can it be substituted with anything because i cannot find heat sink compound ANYWHERE, or is the heat sink compound found in other coumpounds, eg. liquid weld

No. Heat sink compound is not an adhesive, it is a compound designed to fill in the small imperfections in two surfaces so that heat transfers. Try a local computer shop, a chain tech store (Best Buy, Circuit City) or good ol Radio Shack. Ask for 'heat sink compound' or 'thermal grease'. Its most common application today is on computer processors and heatsinks.
