Is this a good deal
I talked to a guy today who had either an 85 or and 87 I forgot and I know it is a diff body style but I cant remember but it was an 85 or 87 Rx-7. It had only 1200 miles on it I assume since he imported the motor and it was a garret td-04 single turbo conversion with all the ecu goodies and inercooler etc. he showed me the dyno where it made 289 hp to the wheels and like 250 lb ft torque. He was asking $8,000 for it. I am kinda new to the Rx-7 seen more of a honda guy but is this a good deal or not?????? It seems fair to me but I know nothing about it PLEASE HELP with your wealth of knowledge. Thanks in advance.

What did the car look like?
$8,000 sounds REALLY high for an '85 OR an '87. I would have to see the car in person but I have not seen a 2nd Gen RX worth $8,000 in years!
Unless it is a 3 rotor engine there is not a good performance reason to import a rotary engine. Usually the 13b turbo engines that are impored have around 30k miles on them becuase they were pulled from a junkyard in japan.
If you have $8,000 to spend on an RX-7 you can reach the 290hp mark for much less than that if you do it right.
