general info

I am new here and am looking for some information on the RX7 styled rotarys, is there a web site that explains some of the general concepts behind the mazda rotarys?

Something more than a .gif file, looking for info that explains how the mazda style rotarys have changed, the different styles in apex seals cost and benefits. How the housings have changed and hopefully a bit about the coatings people are now putting on their internal engine parts.

Any good URLs to learn more?

thanks
Rip

and aside from that frist question, will mazda continue to make rotary cars? I understand that the Rx7 and now the Rx8 have quite a bit of backing by the people, but is there an aftermarket for it?

Are companies making things that will pull away from what mazda is doing, do we still have to buy from mazda to get good parts, or are there places to find new and better housings, rotarys, and others?

I know that there are many places supplying apex seals, but trying to figure out how this community is progressing.

And may be to give you guys an insight into the wierd questions, I come from a largely domestic crowd, and got tired of it, frankly those cars have some limitations as with any crowd. Then started looking into what some of the more inventive people were doing. Newer people like Jim Feuling, and those on the cobalt engineering team. And some wierd stuff, guys who thought they had a engine that ran past detonation on a hydrogen cycle. And then realized that there were others out there doing a lot with other than the piston and crank designs. Thus my interest in Wankel. Any ways I was hoping to see where is community was moving towards.

I've heard that mazda has experimented with a hydrogen rotary in the early 90's and I want to learn more, so any help is much appreciated.

thanks
