Fuel pulsation damper
On one end of the primary fuel rail there is a little screw in the pulsation damper. What is the purpose of this little screw? My 88 turbo is leaking gas through the seal of this screw I went to check my 87 n/a parts car for this screw and it doesnt have one! It is not leaking gas that I was aware of. And is the plastic cap on the damper of some use. Can someone please help me with this?

Wel I already messed with The screw was loose at first so I tightened it! The screw has a little rubber seal on it so I figured it was just loose. Will this cause me trouble? What does this thing do?

So the screw is adjustable where should it be adjusted all the way tight? My n/a rx-7 the screw is missing but it doesnt loose any gas. My turbo car is loosing gas. I can buy one from a junk yard but the screw fell out into the cap should I tighten it all the way?

yea just start saving for a new one. that would be the best thing to do. that pulsation damper has a high risk of an engine fire when it goes bad or starts to leak so keep a close eye on it. and i agree with j9fd3s dont go with a junkyard one.

If the screw falls out, and there is no leakage, get some locktite or thread locker, put it on the threads and screw the screw until you barely feel resistance. Stop there. Let it set up. Reinstall the cover. Done.
IF leaking, replace the pd. The srew hole is NOT where the leak is. Its a busted diaphram. Torquing the screw WILL twist and deform the diaphram and cause leakage. See the above thread for pictures.

please fix that damper!!! i have a 85 se that was owned by the original owner and in 2000 had a leaky fuel damper that caught fire for about 20 seconds! luckily did not burn the wiring harness all the way through, just the protective coating. however i did have to replace the slave cylinder hose new throttle posining sensor, one fuel injector clip, new throttle cable, and several vacumm hose that totaled to about 300 dollars. plus the damper was 125. thgi scar only had 120k miles when this all happened. i bought it here in tallahassee florida for get this, 500 BUCKS!!!!! it runs like a top and looks flawless. this trully was a find but, could have been much worse if the fire woul dhave lasted probably 20 or 30 secs longer. so please, if you wanna avoiud all tghe trouble i would suggst that you get that sucker fixed asap! peace.....
