It is necessary if you want to run more than about 10psi for more than a few seconds, since the stock ECU will induce overboost fuel cut.

If you use want and want to raise the boost though, you should verify your car runs rich enough above 10psi, otherwise you will damage your engine. The best bet would be to keep boost below 10psi and remove the FCD unless you have a wideband lambda to verify the a/f ratio.

wade thanks for the reply.

i do understand what it is supposed to do. but where i'm lost is that this car has one and it is a 93. they dont sell them for this gen.
i'll follow this one thick wire under the glove compartment and see exactly where it is.

let me know what you think..
thanks

I've seen a few places that sell fcd for the FD, not exactly sure about it though.
I have sustained 11 to 12 psi for more than a few seconds and never had anything to even suggest there was fuel cut. Nor has Dave from KD rotary ever mentioned anything about it(always expressed a lot of concern for keeping the engine running).
Only done the exhaust and a drop in K&N stock filter replacement and most if not all reliability mods. Well I'll ask on the spring when i get serious about mods!
Thanx for bringing it up!!!!!!!!!

I have hit the Fuel/Boost cut on my car on cold days with my mods (see sig) but my boost guage tells me it takes 13+ psi for more than 1-2 sec to actually get the ecu to fuel cut - I get 1/2- 1 sec 14psi spikes at wot transition sometimes but no fuel cut.

They *are* made/sold for the FD. A friend of mine has one.
