FD has been sitting for 6 years.

I just bought an FD that has been sitting for 6 years. The when they tried to start it they had to hook up a fuel pump from a bottle to get it started. Once started it appears that it lacked commpression to the rear rotor. WTF? Could it be something other than a blown seal?

low compression needs rebuild to fix no way around it.. but if its a new engine it could just need to build compression..but you said its been sittin for 6 yrs so i doubt that.. so most likely will need a rebuild but put some oil in the plug holes and crank! but what were the compression #'s? was it on a piston tester?

i'd put some seafoam in the engine first

oil that has been sitting for 6 years will turn into straight carbon and form a layer around the housing causing it to "appear" to have low compression when started

when you put the seafoam in it will clear all that collected carbon out and the compression should start to get better provided that it the problem
