Lazy Boy is very accurate. Do a search. Better yet, buy a book. Amazon has some good fc-fd books.

No such thing as "better" - each individual has their own priorities when it comes down to cars.

it's so refreshing to hear someone say that. usually, everyone is on the Gen III bandwagon, and i'm not saying that the FD does not deserve the accolades that it harnesses ... it most certainly does deserve it. i truly believe the real spirit of the Rx-7 was reborn in the Gen III cars. however, i always felt the Gen I cars have a quality that every subsequent Rx-7 or "so-called Rx-7-replacement" will never possess, and like i said, it's refreshing to hear that someone else voiced the same opinion.

Yea I agree, each one has its own strong points. My personal opinion is that a well modded FC wont lose ground to a well modded FD.

It depends a lot on the depth of one's pockets.

I don't think you can compare apple to sour apple. They are both apple but your taste bud should make the judge and also what you want to do with it also help. If you are planning on autoX it a cheaper car would leave you are bigger budget if you have an accXXent at the field. Well I myself like the 3rd gen better since it look rounder, better handling to begin with, more aftermarket parts to swarp, but of couse it have its short comming too. Read more and ask questions more will help also. Good luck, and you did make a good decision on picking RX7. Great taste you have there.

i loooooooooove my '87 GXL. IMO, if you want a nice sport's car, that can be made fast with not too much $$, a second or first gen is the way to go. it's downsides, i think, is that a lot of people mistake them with like, celica's, and uh.. other flip up light J-body's from the 80's.. even Probes (grrr).

The third Gen is good too, but a lot more expensive to get in the first hand, but on the upside, they are a lot more individual looking too.

i totally lost my train of thought too..

My very subjective opinion, since we have both a TII and a third gen.
Reliability out of the Box: 2nd Gen
Potential for horsepowerMoney no issue) 3rd Gen
Better Track Car: 3rd Gen
Looks: Too subjective! I like the lines of the 3rd gen better BUT a TII in excellent condition is a beautiful thing!
Ease to work on: 2nd Gen
Now that I havent helped this issue my verdict. If you have patience, a little free $$, and a dream to wax a Porsche or Corvette on a back street for bragging rights: 3RD GEN!!!
Devil's advocate: Anyone seriously looking at the RX8 Space car! Just give me the engine, we'll make it work!

the tII is where its at, easy to work on, anything on the car can be gotten to with minutes, who said there more aftermarket parts for a fd is obvisouly not looking hard enough for fc parts
