FC only starts with gas pedal

Ok first off i have a 90 S5 FC with 3500 miles on a newly rebuilt motor, and it was running great until i developed a fuel leak (spilling all over) and it came from the rubber lines under the UIM on the injectors closes to the block.

I replaced those hoses, and tightened everything up with new clamps and put it all back together.. At first it flooded when i started it due to a week battery. So i unflooded it and it started with a ton of smoke! i drove it around and let it cool down.. over the next few days it wouldnt start unless i gave it gas and when it started it would smoke, and continue to smoke while driving. I figured it was from over premix soo i filled up with gas without any premix and still the same results.

Soo i removed everything to check my work, and it turned out i connected the harness to the fuel injector that is closest to the block reversed. I connected and everything else looked fine. I started the car and BAM it started up right away!

I figured my problem was fixed until i let it sit over night, and when i went to go start it, it didnt start!!!!! unless i gave it some gas. Sooo im wondering if its not getting enough fuel, or enough air since it only starts up without help once its already started. I want to remove the injectors to clean and check them for any coolant or fuel thats leaking in there. but what gets me is that this all started when i repaired the leaky fuel line.... anyone have any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it.

check to make sure that you didnt put the send and return fuel lines back on backwards. i made that mistake once and had the exact same symptoms. if not that then check that the vacuum is working on the fuel pressure diaphram on the primay fuel rail. if not that then check to make sure that the fuel pressure relay on the vacuum rat nest is hooked up and working properly, and lasltly if not that then check to make sure that the fuel injectors are all wired properly and free of debre and working properly. hope this helps
