FB Cold Starting Issues
My 1985 12a Rx7, which is stock, is having problems starting when it is cold. I used to be able to pull the choke cable and crank the car one time and it would start. I recently had the car compression started and the alternator replaced at a repair shop, after that it would only crank, not start, when cold and the choke was fully pulled.
I have to pull the choke and pump the gas pedal in order to get it to start, and even then it requires four or more cranks at which time it would fire up rev up to 2000-2500 rpm and then die. I then repeat this two or three time before the car remains running.
However, once the car is at normal operating temperature it fires right up on the first crank and settles into idle.
I’ve replaced the ignition coils, spark plug wires, spark plugs, battery, and starter but there has been no change when cold starting.
It seems as if the car is being starved of fuel when it is started cold. Any thought as to what could be causing this? Could the choke be faulty or fuel pump or both thereby not allowing enough fuel to fill the bowl on startup?
I appreicate any help I can get in diagnosing this problem.
