Building power with the FB
Whats the most cost effective way to get more power out of an FB? I have a 1982 GSL. I have heard a lot of people saying that the turbo swap to a 13B is very worth it, but is it really the most cost effective way to go? What about a different carb and exhaust system on the 12A? What about the shameful v8 option?

Keep it light, and you won't need the power of a V8. Start with exhaust (free flowing), then add a hot carb. You'll like it. Check out some of my videos in my signature when you have time.

if you wanna got from 100 to 150hp, then exhaust + carb on the stock engine is really nice.
if you wanna go to 200+ hp then you either need a pretty big NA build (some kind of port, different intake/carb/efi + exhaust), or a turbo swap.

From what I've read, a side draft carb and manifold, a rb exhaust/header setup, a nicely done street port, and dflidsfhdjfbdkdbd (direct fire ignition) should put you in the 160 area depending on how healthy your motor isto start with. I have a rb header and exhaust and it definitely helps. I'm working on the direct fire right now, and the carb and port will come with richer days. It doesn't sound that expensive on a forum board lol. Start saving.

I my mind, 'cost effective' means 'bang for the buck'.
How many bucks are you willing to spend? What is your budget? Are you looking for bolt-on solutions? Can you do welding/fabrication/tuning yourself? Because if you can't, that could chew up half your budget.
For example, a couple hundred dollars for a header on a non-turbo is 'cost effective'. But if you want turbo power, you need a couple thousand for turbo, intercooler, standalone, tuning, etc...
So, please clarify your budget and goals.
